In the September 6, 2016 issue of the National Catholic Register, there was an article reporting on an important study by Georgetown University’s Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate.
Catholic parents need to pay very careful attention to the findings of this research, even though it seems to be ignored by apologists, commentators, and media hosts.
Guess what the study discovered was the typical age for abandoning the Catholic Faith?
• Average age for leaving the Faith is 13 years-old*
• 63% stopped being Catholic between ages 10-17
• 23% ceased believing the Faith before 10 years old!
*Many parents don’t know that their children don’t profess to believe the Catholic Faith!
Why did they leave?
They tend to see the Faith as “a fairy tale,” especially in the relationship between the Faith and science. To confess on Sunday, “I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible..." is incompatible with evolution theories they are learning in schools and in religious instruction.
What’s the solution?
In TrueU: Does God Exist? DVD series, Dr. Stephen Meyer uses the latest scientific evidence discovered in the digital code embedded in DNA to point young people to the mystery and majesty of an Intelligent Designer for all life.
He plays a sort of "philosophical survival" game pitting four worldviews against one another in the quest to decide which one gives the best answers. Dr. Meyer helps you examine the evidence and provides the tools needed for young people to defend the faith and make it their own.
Stephen Meyer received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in the philosophy of science. Besides being a leading proponent of Intelligent Design, he is a winsome and compelling speaker to older teens and college students.
This is a 10 part series. Set includes 2 DVDs & a 64-page Discussion Guide.
